Is a permit required for a shed? Yes
Is a permit required for erecting a tent? Yes. The permit for trailers, tents, or other temporary buildings costs $150 for up to six months. Permits for tents used by residents for private events cost $40.
How far from your property lines can a shed be placed and what are the requirements? One shed per residential property. Place shed six (6) feet from property line in the back or rear of yard. Can be no larger than 225 sq. ft. (e.g., 14' x 16'). If you live on a corner lot, you are considered to have two front yards and two side yards--you do not have a rear yard; therefore, on the street side, you must set your shed back at least 40 feet from the property line.

What is the difference between land development and subdivision? Section 72-6
LAND DEVELOPMENT refers to the improvement of one lot or two or more
contiguous lots, tracts, or parcels of land for any purpose involving:
--A group of two or more residential or nonresidential buildings, whether proposed
initially or cumulatively, or a single nonresidential building on a lot or lots, regardless of the number of occupants or tenure;
--The division or allocation of land or space, whether initially or cumulatively, between or
among two existing or prospective occupants by means of or for the purpose of streets, common areas, leaseholds, condominiums, building groups or other features; or
--The addition of any accessory building, including farm buildings, on a lot or lots subordianate to an existing principal building.
A SUBDIVISION is the division or redivision of a lot, tract, or parcel of land by any
means into two or more lots, tracts, parcels, or other divisions of land, including changes in existing lot lines for the purpose, whether immediate or future, of lease, partition by the
Court for distribution to heirs or devises, transfer of ownership or building or lot development; provided, however, that the subdivision by lease of land for agricultural
purposes into parcels of more than 10 acres, not involving any new street or easement of access or any residential dwelling, shall be exempted.
