The West Goshen Park and Recreation Board voted at its November 17, 1999 meeting to request that any resident
attending a free township event bring a dry good for Cares Food Network. Boxes will be set up at plays, musical performances, The Easter Egg Hunt and Decorated Hat Parade, Harvest Day, etc. to collect soap,
toilet paper, diapers, deodorant, shampoo, toothpaste, and other toiletries.
Cares Food Network, formerly Chester County Cares, has served Chester County since 1954 by providing food and other needed resources to social service
groups throughout the county. This organization also offers information, referral, advocacy, and direct assistance to families.
Through federal grants and government surplus programs, Cares Food Network is able to procure some food for distribution. However, it relies on
private assistance for the acquisition of needed dry goods.
The Park and Recreation Board reiterates its commitment to offering high-quality free entertainment to the Township's residents,
while providing the opportunity to help some of the County's citizens in need.
