WEST GOSHEN TOWNSHIP BOARD OF SUPERVISORS MEETING OCTOBER 10, 2001
A regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Supervisors of West Goshen Township was called to order by Vice Chairman Edward G. Meakim at 4:03 p.m. on Wednesday, October 10, 2001, at the West Goshen
Township Administration Building. Dr. Robert S. White was absent. Mr. Meakim opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.
Mr. Meakim opened the floor for public comment. No public comments were made.
Sharon Lynn, Township Manager, announced that on Sunday, October 14, 2001 starting at 6:00 p.m. at the West Goshen Township Community Park, West Goshen Township will host a Tribute Concert for the events that
happened on Tuesday, September 11, 2001. Ms. Lynn added this will be a one-hour program that will be a tribute to those in West Goshen Township as well as throughout the nation and to our police and
firefighters.
Nancy D. Rodgers, Zoning Officer, announced that the Zoning Hearing Board will hold a public meeting on Thursday, October 11, 2001 at 7:30 p.m. at the Township Administration Building to hear further testimony on ZHB
11-01. The applicant is Stephen Conway, 850 West Chester Pike, West Chester, PA.
The legal owners of the property affected are William E. Thomas, Jr. and Betty Lou Thomas, 821 Lincoln Avenue, West Chester, PA. The conforming property for which the application is made is 1.035 acres, located at 821 Lincoln Avenue, zoned I-3 General Industrial District. The applicant is seeking a variance for relief from the 100 foot side yard requirement when an industrial property abuts a residential use or residential district.
On motion by Mr. Meakim, seconded by Mr. Little, the Board unanimously approved the Board of Supervisors minutes from September 12, 2001 and September 26, 2001.
On motion by Mr. Meakim, seconded by Mr. Little, the Board unanimously approved the Treasurer's Report dated September 30, 2001 for the General Fund, the Sewer Revenue Fund, the Waste and Recycling Fund, and the
Capital Reserve Fund, as well as the bills to be paid from the General Fund, the Sewer Fund, the Capital Reserve Fund, and the Waste and Recycling Fund.
Sgt. William Camlin gave the Police Report for the month of September, 2001.
Sgt. Camlin reminded everyone that Halloween Trick or Treating and the end of Daylight Savings Time are occasions for drivers to use caution.
Ralph Brown, Fire Marshal, gave the Fire Marshal Report for the month of September, 2001. Mr. Brown also gave the reports for Good Fellowship Club of Chester County and Goshen Fire Company.
Mr. Brown stated that the week of October 7, 2001 is Fire Prevention Week and invited all present to an Open House at the Goshen Fire Company on Friday, October 12, 2001 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Richard Hicks, Building Official, gave the Building Inspection Activity Report for September, 2001.
On motion by Mr. Little, seconded by Mr. Meakim, the Board unanimously approved the 2001 Foreign Fire Relief Distribution Allocation Formula. The total allocation received from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
was $134,717.94. This amount was divided and distributed to the following agencies: Good Fellowship Club of Chester County, Inc. - $16,839.74, Goshen Fire Department - $67,358.97, and West Chester Fire
Department - $50,519.23.
On motion by Mr. Little, seconded by Mr. Meakim, the Board unanimously approved Resolution 30-01, establishing the fee for the licensing of municipal waste haulers at $18.00 per year and the fee for the collection of
municipal waste, recyclables and leaves at $55.00 per quarter year.
On motion by Mr. Little, seconded by Mr. Meakim, the Board unanimously approved Resolution 31-00, distributing funds received from the Commonwealth to the three Township pension funds.
Mr. Meakim opened the floor for public comment. No public comments were made.
There being no further business, on motion by Mr. Little, seconded by Mr. Meakim, the meeting was adjourned at 4:10 p.m.
