Kent Wise informed that the area surrounding the new dugouts at Flagg Field has been graded and re-seeded. The block walls of the new dugouts are in the process of being painted by a contractor hired and funded by the Little League. Additionally, the crews are in the process of staining wood areas of the new dugouts. Kent Wise reported that the walls and doors of the Amphitheater have been re-painted. At the Paoli Pike Park, all of the old playground equipment has been removed and Kent Wise indicated that he is looking into the possibility of installing a street hockey rink. Friends of the Park: Peggy Niemeyer reporting for the Friends informed that 118 people attended the July 4th Decorated Bike parade and informed that 35 prizes were given out to the participants. About 50 of the participants pre-registered for this Decorated Bike Parade via the West Goshen Township web site. Ken Lehr stated that the pre-registered numbers would have been higher if the Township Web site did not encounter a problem with AOL. Peggy Niemeyer stated that the Township would need to look into changing the parade route next year if the number of participants continues to grow. Joe Waters offered thanks to Sgt. William Camlin for playing the role of Officer Friendly at the Decorated Bike Parade. Peggy Niemeyer informed that the Friends made $120.00 in profits from the recent Bake Sale. On the topic of Community Day, Peggy Niemeyer reported that an advertisement for Crafters is planned for the Daily Local News. Additionally, the Friends plan to send out a newsletter to their members to help line-up volunteers for the various Community Day activities. Peggy Niemeyer stated that the advertisement for Crafters on the letter sign is "great" and asked if there is enough room on the sign to also display the date for Community Day. Finally, Peggy Niemeyer stated that the Friends are looking for baby food jars to support the sand art craft scheduled for Community Day.
Old Business: Ken Lehr reporting on Community Day informed that he has lined up 4 inflatable rides from North Pole Productions for Community Day including the "obstacle course".
Ken Lehr discussed the possibility of renting generators for the inflatable rides from Taylor Rental. Jennifer Grey-Rice asked why the Township has decided to go with 4 inflatable rides for this year's Community Day expressing concern over the cost of the rides. Ken Lehr informed that the Township used 4 inflatable rides (3 rented and 1 from the Borough of West Chester) at last year's Community Day and stated that during the last Community Day planning session, the general consensus among the attendees was that the inflatable rides were very popular. The recommendation was to again contract 4 inflatable rides for this year's Community Day in order to keep the "wait"
time for the rides at a minimum. The members of the Park and Recreation Board suggested having the next Community Day planning session at 7:00 PM on Monday, July 23rd. The meeting will
be held at the Township Building.
Ken Lehr reporting on the July 8th bus trip to Baltimore to see the Phillies play the Orioles informed that all 3 buses (capacity of 141) were sold out for the trip. Ken Lehr discussed the results of a Survey completed by the people attending the Baltimore trip. Ken Lehr stated that the Township Newsletter continues to be the most effective form of advertising for bus trips.
